500 ml bottle into a snifter. Had 8/26/22.

Pours near black and opaque, with a quarter inch foamy head and no real lacing. Aromas of roasted malt, bourbon, figs, chocolate, oak, char, some vanilla, light coffee, a little cocoa. Flavors of bourbon, roasted malt, chocolate, oak, char, some coffee, light vanilla and leather. Smooth, a solid full body, appropriately carbonated.

An excellent no adjuncts added BA stout. Strong barrels with a hearty roast and a great feel. A winning combination.

 

 

A - Pours pitch black with a one finger tan head. The head fades into a thin ring leaving some oily lacing.

S - Aroma is dark chocolate, coffee and a huge barrel presence.

T - The taste is dark chocolate, black coffee, roasted malts and heavy amounts barrel.

M - Full body with medium carbonation. Slick mouthfeel with crisp drying finish.

O - Really solid. Heavy amount barrel throughout.

I love Transient’s stout program. The “Uckley” series is excellent, but the Neckbeard series is pretty damn good too. The appearance on this one is cool, as it lightens around the edges. Strong presence of bourbon barrel over thick roasted malt with notes of chocolate and coffee. The barrel asserts itself on the taste, with a hot boozy character that, while strong, still meshes well with the dark roasted maltiness. Big, bold body, but a clean finish without a hint of oiliness or a syrupy sludgy feel. Very tasty, and a strong sipper. Well done.

 

 

Black with brown speckling and cap. Smell captures the bourbon powerfully: brown sugar and molasses join vanilla, and chocolate. Taste is very warm bourbon verging on hot with solid oak, light bitter chocolate with vanilla edges, but dark fruit emerges quite strongly as it warms. Feel is very, very warm, body is slightly thinner, smoothness is moderate. Smell is by far and away the best attribute, otherwise a barrel centric ba stout
