Pours black and settles black in the glass with a sudsy, sizzling mocha colored head that lingers a bit. Beautiful BA imperial stout.
The nose features a LOT of maple syrup, and there’s also vanilla, some roasty coffee, and a bit of booze.
The maple syrup is likewise very prominent on the taste, but it’s nicely balanced by the vanilla, roasty coffee, and the booze courtesy of the barrel, which is also very warming. So delicious.
The mouthfeel is thick and chewy, as required for a beer of this gravity (14.5% ABV). Transient absolutely crushed this.

A - Pours pitch black with a thin brown head. Light amount of oily lacing.
S - Aroma vanilla, maple syrup, black coffee, oak and bourbon.
T - The taste is black coffee, vanilla, maple syrup, dark chocolate, marshmallow, oak and a nice bourbon warmth in the finish,
M - Full body with medium carbonation. Silky mouthfeel with a slick dry finish.
O - This is killer. On the sweet side, but the barrel still shines through.

Pours pitch black with a finger of reddish mocha head that dissipates quickly and leaves nothing behind.
As expected, aromas bring big roasted coffee, vanilla, and maple. The bourbon barrel comes through with your basic notes of oak and bourbon. Accompanying aromas of marshmallow, chocolate chip cookie, and caramel. Smells sweet and decadent.
Taste is big on all of the adjuncts: creamy vanilla, sweet maple, and roasty coffee. The coffee and barrel bring some balance to the sweetness, with the barrel delivering drying oak tannin, char, and bourbon spirit. Brownie, marshmallow, caramel, roasted malt, and slight nondescript fruitiness round it all out.
High medium body. Creamy, slick, plenty sticky, oily.
The adjuncts shine in this one as you'd expect given it's double the typical additions to regular Kentuckley. The barrel still manages to come through though to add some much-needed balance. This is typical Transient stout execution.
