A - Pours pitch black with a fizzy brown head. The head fades fast leaving some light oily lacing.
S - Aroma is coconut, dark chocolate, black coffee, maple and oak.
T - The taste is dark chocolate, black coffee, salted caramel, vanilla, maple, oak, spicy rye and a nice bourbon warmth in the finish.
M - Full body with medium carbonation. Syrupy mouthfeel with a crisp drying finish.
O - Really well done. The barrel is the star with the adjuncts balancing everything out.

Found out that I'm not a big fan of salt in my stouts, so "Salted Caramel" was making me a bit nervous. But the 2 years in Blis barrels and a couple more years in my cellar all but eliminated the salt, leaving Transient's big base stout surrounded in maple syrup, chocolate, mild coffee and vanilla. Excellent viscosity; just thick enough to encourage slow sipping, certainly not chewy. Excellent beer.
