Poured at 56°. Reddish tan fizzy mixed bubbles quickly receded leaving a solid ring and a few tiny islands of micro dots; jet black body with ruby edges; some soapy lace with agitation; thin legs on swirl.
Bourbon, oak nose; mild heat on retro nasal.
Taste follows nose; chocolate, caramel; vanilla; spicy black licorice with raisins as beer warmed; not sweet nor bitter.
Silky smooth feel; medium body; burn on tip of tongue; full mouth warmth from 14% abv; not adjuncty; light carbonation.
Overall, one of the best BBA imperial stouts I’ve had in awhile; layers of subtle well balanced base and barrel flavors; not sweet - just right; very pleasant face warming sensation from the alcohol; an easy drinking 14% pounder and thus dangerous.

500 ml bottle into a snifter. A 2022 release, had 4/28/23.
Pours near black and opaque with no head and no lacing. Aromas of oak, bourbon, chocolate, malt, leather. Flavors of bourbon, chocolate, oak, leather, malt, a little vanilla, a little bitterness on the finish. Smooth, semi dry, a solid full body, appropriately carbonated.
Powerful aromas and flavors, with the barrels starring. Rich, full and hearty. There’s no sweetness to speak of here, which I found interesting. Very enjoyable.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a thick and black as midnight. Looks thick. An inch of brown head sticks around for a minute or two. The nose is insane. Maple, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, cinnamon raisin toast, rich toffee, brown sugar, and prunes. It blows my mind that this doesn't have anything added to it. Just straight up barrel influence.
The taste is really nice. Chocolate, fudge, burnt toffee, big roasted malts (especially on the back end), maple, vanilla, raisins, dates, bitter oak, and huge notes of bourbon. I feel like I can pick out the Buffalo Trace, but not as much the Elijah Craig barrels. This is definitely not sweet on the taste. Very much bourbon and roasted malts, mixed with some dark chocolate and toffee.
There is definitely a slight burn on the way down. This is no slouch. The ABV is detectable for sure, but it's never quite solvent like. It's definitely thick and creamy on the mouthfeel. The aftertaste is a mix of burnt toffee and roasted malts. Lovely.

Pours black with a sudsy dark tan head that forms a nice little cap on the beer as you drink it. Bourbon is very prominent on the nose, as is chocolate fudge, and there’s a nice bit of vanilla and oak as well.
The taste is led by the chocolate fudge, which is delicious, and there’s plenty of vanilla and oak, residual flavors from the double bourbon barrel treatment for this beer - and then, out of nowhere, there’s a nice stone fruit flavor, which I absolutely LOVE in big stouts, at the back of the palate. Delicious beer.
The mouthfeel is surprisingly a bit on the softer side, but this is still a big stout that carries its weight very well.

Black opaque body with a brown head. Really this is the usual chocolate fudge, roasted malt, with touches of vanilla meeting bourbon per usual for the series but now with giant agressive oak, especially in the taste. Feel is smooth, very warm, viscous, chewy and heavy. Barrel character, while large, is not super complex
