This iteration is a Baltic Porter with a slight touch of smoke and a higher ABV at 7.5%, than the other Henry beers made in the past. Proceeds from this special beer will benefit the @mdaorg. The MDA began in 1950 and helps transform the lives of people with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related neuromuscular diseases. Cheers to Henry and this wonderful organization who helps so many!

Henrik from Transient Artisan Ales. Received from @Whyteboar in Barleywine and Stout BIF #2. 16 fl oz can. Received 26/02/25, reviewed 18/03/25 (Review 3475). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Stored at home at 39 degrees F and served at 53.6 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 59.1 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Amber Brown (SRM 18), nearly opaque.
Body – Deep Brown (SRM 30), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, amber at the edges.
Head – Average (Maximum 1.8 cm, aggressive center pour), Tuscan tan, high density and fizzy, short retention. Drops to a 0.4 cm tan crown as it oxygenates, constantly renewed by carbonation, and a thin partial cap.
Lacing – Poor – just a couple of short prominences of near-microscopic bubbles.
Aroma – 4 – Light chocolate, and smoke. No hops, no yeast, no alcohol.
Flavor – 4 – Begins slightly bitter with chocolate, just a touch of char. No yeast, no hops. No alcohol (7.5 % ABV, according to the label), but slight transitory gastric warming occurs. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3.5 – Thin: watery: soft carbonation.
Style: Nearly follows the style guidelines as condensed by BA, but a bit thin and watery for the style.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated personal container) Decent take on a Baltic porter, but the body seems a bit thin.

Poured stout black with a brown head which dissipated quickly.
The aroma was lost on me, stupid Covid.
The taste is all about the roasted malts, nearly sweet but a light smoke flavor adds to the savory side to balance the taste. I’ve had less malty stouts.
The feel is light viscosity, which is what makes me wonder if it’s actually a lager or if the “Baltic” aspect relates to something else.
OA, good beer, really good. I emailed the brewery to ask about the lager thing.
