A - Pours a motor oil black with a very thin tan head. Thick amount of oily lacing.
S - Aroma is dark chocolate, caramel and heavy barrel.
T - The taste is dark chocolate, maple, caramel, vanilla, spicy rye and a nice bourbon warmth.
M - Full body with medium carbonation. Syrupy mouthfeel with a slick dry finish.
O - This was awesome. Tons of barrel balance out the sweetness from the base beer.

Picked up a bottle of this at Junie Day and not sorry I did. All the Junie variants feature the base Imperial Rye stout with Violet Sky cocoa nibs and salted caramel.
The regular Junie's have, for me, a very pronounced salt element that obviously some people enjoy, but I don't, so I was a bit concerned about this one. Queen Junie was aged in Henry McKenna 10 year and Blis Maple Bourbon Barrels for 36 months - which effectively negated the salt and took this very close to pastry territory with its sweetness. Fortunately the bourbon imparted enough edge to rein the sweet in and amplify the rye stout aspect. It is an excellent beer if you enjoy smooth and relatively sweet BBA stouts. If you prefer char and hoppy stouts, this is not for you.
