Poured cellar cool to a mini snifter. Color is dark ruddy chestnut with a bit of turbidity. Half-finger light cream head that fades quickly. Good lacing. Smell comes off mild leather at first, but with a little time and getting the nose up close pulls out a nice cherry blossom hint. Flavor is complex, bringing in wet wood without being too tannic. The maple is dark, with its sweetness reigned in by the wood and bourbon notes. I’m not too familiar with Eastern Kille bourbon, but the effect seems unique. Slight floral quality, but not in any perfume-like way. Bright and cutting, complementing the dark woodiness and maple goodness. Alcohol has a marginal bite, nice for the heavy mouthfeel and flavors. Another winner from Transient Artists.
P.S. After some time, the flavor brings in a fresh berry jamminess, part grape, part raspberry. Very nice. Increased the taste score because of it.
