Soapy, sticky snow white froth that laces nicely over summer blonde body. 4
That lactic, cheesy aroma that I hate about certain British beers. 3.25
Buttered fresh country loaf, some mashed yellow apples, and melon, lemon and floral hops.
Arugula ending and sage linger. 3.75
Round, lt-med, slick. 3.75
-- WGV single hop - “botanical” is the description, and I’d go with that - there’s lavender and lemon balm. Fuggles descendent, too, which could explain that soapy, sour thing I associate with Northdown. Light, oily, smooth - just not my taste. 3.75

A 330ml bottle with a BB of Oct 2014. Picked up a while back from the York Beer & Wine shop. The label describes it as a traditional IPA brewed to a 1914 recipe from London. Hopped solely with Kentish Whitbread Golding.
Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bottle conditioned. A bright golden hue with some slight floating sediment and good carbonation. Yields a decent head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Aroma of subtle hops with hints of grass/hay, mild spice, grainy malt, earthy yeast and stewed hops. Alright.
Tastes of light, grassy hops with a dry finish. Notes of grass/hay, delicate spice, a touch of citrus, grainy malt, earthy yeast and stewed hops. A hint of booze in the background. Well-attenuated, followed by a restrained, leafy bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and tingly, with pleasant carbonation and decent body. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of bitter stewed hops, grass, earthiness and mild grain.
A decent brew that fits the traditional IPA mould quite well. Looks OK, while the aroma and flavour are a blend of grassy hops, grain and earthy yeast. Aroma rather lacklustre, but the body is pleasant enough. I can't help wishing that the hop character had been enhanced, but it goes down without trouble. Worth a punt if you come across it.
