A 330ml bottle with a BB of Oct 2014, so it's a tad out of date. Picked up a while back from the York Beer & Wine shop. The label describes it as a summer ale brewed with spent gin botanicals from the City of London Distillery.
A: Poured into a cervoise. Bottle conditioned. A rich amber hue with fine floating sediment and good carbonation. Produces a vast head of fluffy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Some lacing.
S: Aroma of light grain with hints of earthy yeast esters, grass/hay, mild spice, faint juniper and stewed leaves. Rather nice - smells like a saison.
T: Tastes of grainy malt with a yeasty character and a dry, leafy finish. Notes of grain, husks, earthy yeast, grass/hay, mild spice, subtle juniper and stewed leaves. Well-attenuated, followed by a restrained, herbal bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and good body. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of earthy yeast, stewed herbs and mild grainy malt.
O: Pretty good, though distinctly saison-like. Looks OK, while the aroma and flavour are a satisfying blend of yeast, grain and herbal notes. Light bitterness and pleasant body. The label calls it an ale, but perhaps a Belgian yeast strain was employed to brew this. At any rate, a tasty beer that goes down nicely. Worth sampling if you come across it.

This is an original beer gifted to me by a friend, it's brewed with gin botanicals. It pours a light amber colour with a white head. Aromas of biscuit malt, juniper & peppers. Taste of light spices with a gin aftertaste at first which blends in nicely after a few sips.
This proved to be much better a beer than I first thought, the gin botanicals really come off quite well.
