From a twelve ounce aluminum can, this is a dark brown color with a creamy head. The aroma is clean, with some grain and malt...not much hop aroma. The taste is balanced, if not just slightly dry. Medium body. Just okay.

Pours a dark, dark brown with a finger of dense khaki foam. Head retention is good. Aroma is crackery, biscuity, roasty malts. Flavor profile crackery, biscuity, bready, roasty malts. There are light notes of toffee and floral and herbal hops. Mouth feel is medium-thick with a soft, pillowy, velvety quality. It's more of a well textured - but soft - linen flax than a cotton hotel sheet. Overall, very refreshing and easygoing, with qualities both dark and light.

this is a style that has unfortunately been largely neglected by american craft brewers, which is a real shame. i miss beer like this, especially ones this good, i can always count on logboat to deliver quality! nice looking pint, near black with a little light coming in red along the edges of the glass, and a full inch of airy and light looking beige head, nice lace as it drinks too. roasty and german in the nose and the taste, a classic munich malt profile shows a little center sweetness surrounded by a robust coffee type roast to the darker barley malt in here, simple but classic to me. the yeast smells like european lager, drying and bready, it tastes fresh though compared to most of the imports, and leaving quite a mark on this one, its the last thing i taste. subtle cocoa powder, raisin, and fig, coffee bitterness, nice balance, lots of bubbles, not too much body or alcohol to it, a dark beer for all day long. these guys have done a nice job with the classic styles, and this robust schwarzbier is no exception.

Dark pour looks like dr pepper in the light. Faint chocolate malt smell. Someone said it reminds of the dark bread from Outback...I thought that was a great description. Dark lager styles are all over the board and you never know if you'll be reminded of something closer to a stout, a black ipa, or anywhere in between. The taste on this is faint chocolate bread malt. Thinner feel than the look hints. Tastes clean. Barely any bitter and nothing hanging in the aftertaste. I'll drink again

Black in color with a faint amount of light penetration. There's a fingernail of brown around half of the rim and about half of the top. I smell sweet dark malt and toasted bread. I'm tasting that dark sweet malt and it is reminiscent of the dark honey wheat bread from Outback Steakhouse. It finishes a bit sweeter than I would prefer. The mouth is light and smooth.

Poured a jet black color with a one finger, light brown head of foam. It smelled roasty with a hint of chocolate. Caramel, toffee and chocolate flavors with a light bitterness.
