Caramel black in color with a slight tan head. Dark roast coffee nose with malt and chicory. Smoked Porter-esque or a German Rauch beer-like. The taste is very puckering, dry. Medium bodied with a certain creaminess. A nuttiness is also present, much like you would find in a Newcastle.
There is a mineral presence in the taste. It might be the water that they use--high mineral content. Finishes dry with a stout remnants to it, like an Irish dry stout. It is a very nice beer, true to the simple style that the English are so known for.

Dark brown, tan head, nice and fluffy looking.
Yum! Very similar in style and flavor to Sam Smith's Imperial stout, without the sang alcohol bang.
A nice roasty, nutty smell. Taste is the same as well, with a bit of hop bitterness that rounds out the beer. Nothing overly pronounced in the hops just a bit of taming in of the big malt character of the beer. A bit of bite on the finish, but it doesn't linger in the mouth. Biscuit maltyness/yeast character helps make this even more rich of a beer.
This is another wonderful beer from this alehouse. It is simple in construction, and basic in style. It is nice to see a return to good quality, exceptional tasting beer that doesn't rely on excessive hops or overwhelming alcohol to make it stand out from the crowd.
