A - No head from the bottle, and only soapy head with a solid pour. Dark brown color with amber edges. Even without head, this beer has apparent carbonation in the glass with bubbles lining the sides.

S- Light malt aroma, nothing too dominant. Generally a very light aroma. Small biscuity smell.

T - Thick malty taste, with a little bit of sweetness. Very drinkable beer, a small smokey taste lingers, but without any residual dryness

M - This beer is definitely big on body while being very lowly carbonated

Overall - A great english mild, not a style that's too popular in the sometimes exclusively hop forward brewing world. Very drinkable with just enough flavor to leave you wanting more.

The highlight of my Jasper Murdock flight. Served at the brewpub.

A: The EDMA is, rightly so, a dark cola color, a swirling mix of crimson and brown hues. A 1/2 finger of head accompanied the ale but did little in the way of lacing.

S: The nose has caramel and molasses, rich but surprisingly mild. The aromas are concentrated but fleeting, here and gone (in a good way).

T: The molasses thickness leaves a lasting impression, sweet and dark-tasting. The ale, overall, is very light and grainy; heavy on caramel and darker sugary molasses. The flavors don't linger, passing quickly, leaving only the toasted biscuit grains. The dark sweetness really hits the spot.

M: Darker additives add sweetness and body to an ale that weighs in at 3.5%. That's right, its a session beer by the strictest definition of the word.

D: More, please. The best ale in the current Jasper Murdock line-up; long on flavor and short on booze, you can belly up for a few pints.

An Amber Ale displaying the trademark deep amber color like an aged whiskey. Faint aroma of malts. Nice head off the tap but it dissipated quickly. Very smoky and a little biscuity. Slightly toasted malt up front with a hop finish. Medium body and nice mouthfeel but lacking in character. Drinks lighter than it looks. Totally quaffable and refreshing but needs more edge.

On tap -3/21/08 at J. Murdock's Alehouse

An interesting dark mild beer, that you don't find very often.
This is a dark, nearly black ale, with a light tan-white head. It has smooth chocolate, caramel flavors with a light hop taste. Flowery nose, and fruity characters come through as well. Light bodied, but not lacking in flavor. This is a great medium-low alcohol session beer.
