Served on-tap at Jasper Murdock's. A strong ale that has been aged for a significant period of time (approximately a year per the table tag).
A: The ale is an amber brown color, darker with a small head. No lacing on this one, just a gorgeous-looking strong ale.
S: The nose is strong, malty with ample strength (even if it is only 7.2%). Dark fruits are plentiful, raisins meshing with the caramel malts. Assertive, especially when compared to the milds that preceded it.
T: The fullness of the ale is evident immediately, stronger than any previous offerings. Caramel malts, sweet and rich, mix with dark fruits (thanks to the yeast). Raisins are prominent, adding to the sweetness. Booze, even though it is only 7-ish percent, stands out, belying the strong ale characteristic. Hops, even subtle English ones, are an afterthought.
M: The mouthfeel is sweet and bready, relatively strong. Aging the beer has allowed the fruitiness to come together nicely.
D: It's not the 3.5% of Famous Sidekick, hindering the drinkability. My 10 oz glass was the perfect size.
