Came in on a Friday night. Was surprised by the lack of people there but it was one of the first nice days of June so I bet a brewery was the last thing on people's minds.

Kinda decorated like a living room with one long shelf all around with different Belgian beer bottles on it. A lady was playing piano and singing, which was nice. One of the brewers was serving beers.

Selection was great, just about every beer they had was availble and they also serve a couple of key Belgian beers such as Leffe Blonde, La Fin du Monde, and Duchess de Bourgogne, to name a few.

Overshores gets a 5 for selection because they sell bottled Belgians--anything you could ever want. The danger of this practice is the beer you're trying to launch is forced to compete with some of the great beers of the world. I opted for flights--saison, wit, and hopped saison. The wit was the best of the three. Then I had a Delerium Tremens, which blew everything else I'd tasted out of the water.

In spite of the balmy, sunny day and the deck out back, all the patrons opted for the cool, dank bar area, which was charming. Many patrons came armed with Groupons, which meant we paid more for our beers than they did. I hate Groupons. Also empty growlers sell for $8.00. I've purchased growlers for as little as two bucks. Still worth a visit. Since they aspire to a type not widely immitated in the US, I wish them luck. I don't have a head for hops, and heavily hopped beers still rule the taps for now.

Went to Overshores yesterday. We were the only ones there for most of the time and had a really informal tour with the bartender. She walked us through the tasting which unfortunately only came out of bottles (they haven't installed a tap system yet). The beers are a little expensive, but they're relatively new so I guess it makes sense. If you go there and aren't a fan of their beers, they have a pretty decent selection of other Belgian and Belgian-style beers (also in bottles).

Overshores was the original tenet in what has become the Connecticut Beer Collective. Taproom is partitioned off a large warehouse building and has an L-shaped bar that seats about 10 with a few tables in the room and a few more on the loading deck patio. 16 beers on tap from 4 different breweries makes for some interesting choices. Friendly bartender, interesting crowd.
