Renny is a renegade, breaking the mold for Double IPAs. Deceivingly light in both color and body, this West Coast style DIPA starts with pine and citrus in the nose. These elements then carry into the mouth with added notes of grapefruit and a pleasantly dry finish. Citrusy double IPA aged in Four Roses barrels. Brewed with Simcoe and Amarillo hops.

Wonderful BA DIPA. The aroma is reminiscent of standing inside an historic wooden building at Greenfield Village (this is a good thing). The balance between barrel aging and the hops is near perfect. A lot of BA IPAs and DIPAs are heavy on the booze and become cloying, the oak and bourbon in this one are there but leave a bright, citrusy finish. Like orange pith dipped in booze served on an oak tray.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 4/25/2018. Pours slightly hazy deep golden amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, apricot, pineapple, mango, melon, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, honey, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy/oaky earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/fruity hops, bourbon barrels, and bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, apricot, pineapple, mango, melon, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, honey, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy/oaky earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel, herbal, grassy bitterness; and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, apricot, pineapple, mango, melon, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, honey, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity hops, bourbon barrels, and bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/spiciness balance; and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly sticky/tannic mouthfeel that is nice. Mildly increasing warmth of 9.4%, with zero barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is a delicious barrel aged DIPA. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity hops, bourbon barrels, and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV, with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Quite malty as with the base beer, but still has adequate lingering dryness. Really well balanced between juicy Simcoe hops, barrels, and malts all around. A very enjoyable offering.
