Taking Cream Ale quite literally, Pigeon Hill turns this classic American style into a Boston cream delight. With generous additions of vanilla, cream and chocolate, the brewery magically transforms the beer into a basic doughnut glaze.
Pouring a rather nonchalant hazy golden pour, Donut Stop Believin' releases a basic, loose and quick froth that teases the senses with vanilla cream, fried dough and soft chocolate notes. Its first taste does little to veer from the doughnut impressions as its taste is silky and creamy with meringue, sugar cookie, powdered sugar and vanilla cream pie.
The flavors largely hold intact across the middle palate with little change, adjustment or development of complexity. Sweet, savory and with a tough of milk chocolate, the beer eventually lightens a little thanks to an extremely modest hopping rate and the carbonation that breaks up the sugars slightly while still keeping the taste plump and full.
Medium bodied but seeming fuller because of the persistent sweetness, the beer never approaches cloying but is sweet. Never refreshing or thirst quenching, the beer prefers a more savory palate as it extends long on the tongue with sugary sweetness and those doughnut glaze flavors. Its certainly a fun beer but not an everyday selection.

Poured from an undated 12 oz can
Thin quickly dissipating head and no lacing or cap. Shiny amber color
Aroma is like opening a box of donuts and sweet cream
Taste is full on Boston Cream donut and surprisingly not over sweet
Mouthfeel is creamy, bright and relatively smooth, some malt in the finish
Overall it was a surprisingly good cream ale, not overly sweet but dessert beer like. Not bad as a once and a while beer

Pours a golden color with almost no head but it's very effervescent. Aroma and taste are reminiscent of cream soda with a hint of bitterness at the finish. Smooth and creamy.

Tastes just like a long John donut. Chocolate and dough on the forefront and a smooth creamy finish. I was pleasantly surprised at this beer actually having depth and authentic flavor as described as opposed to just being a sugar bomb. Give this one a try!

Well, what can one expect with a gimmick beer? As it turns out, something pretty tasty, even if you don’t want to drink it all the time.
Poured a smooth amber color with little head or lacing, aroma did smell something like donuts were involved. (Fair enough, they stated that on the label). The flavor follows the aroma, definitely a donut essence here, but it’s not smashing me over the head. As a cream ale, the flavors are good and the feel very good.
I am glad I got to try this, also glad I didn’t buy a case of it. Fun cream ale.
