Not a big fan of Black IPAs, but this was really a great offering.

1 pint poured into an ipa glass
pours out pretty dark like strong black coffee and appears thicker
than some stouts I've drank.nice tan head.i do get a fresh pine scent.
definitely has a bitter aspect, but also I get a malassas sweetness.
thick mouthfeel for a black ipa. almost a licorice finish on the tongue.
too bad it is retired, I would buy again.tried after 6 weeks canned.

22 oz. bomber, poured into a 12 oz. goblet.
Murky brownish orange with a tight cap off white foam that maintains an unbroken skim and collar around the edges. Thin halo of drippy lace around the rim.
As it warms up there's a citrusy bitter grapefruit peel that comes out, alongside a grainy rye element. Somewhat mild but pleasant.
Flavor has a bit more of a citrus punch, bitter grapefruit peel, pine, and grainy rye. Medium bodied with a moderate dry bitterness. Overall pretty well balanced and drinkable. Not a bad first impression from these guys.
