22oz bottle from 2017 RIS tasting. This one leans on the coffee bitterness a lot, well supported by the roast malts. Taste adds a bit of sweetness and a lot of alcohol heat. Kind of slick, but has a nice feel throughout.

Viscous, smooth, deep, and sticky in the feel. Jet black opaque appearance with thin brown outer ring on surface. Smell actually captures more wood than normal fro vlad series, I like it. The coffee, dark chocolate, bourbon and brown sugar aromas comes through powerfully as well. Taste is coffee constant all the way through, with a woody and dark depth to the coffee. Also features molasses, leather, dark chocolate, brown sugar, vanilla, wood and licorice. Very drinkable for abv

I'm pretty partial to the fruited Vlads, but this one was good. I'm not picking up any coffee in the nose, but it has some good coffee flavor when I drink it. It's more of a roasty coffee opposed to a burnt coffee, which I really like.
Not my favorite Vlad, but a really good BA stout
