Had on tap. Super dark brown body with a huge tan head. Toasted toffee, earth, lightly toasted malt, a hint of cocoa and dark fruit all make up the nose. Tastes just like the smell, malt forward with lots of dark elements supporting, has a kiss of herbal hops on the end. Feel is medium with plenty of maltiness, smoothness, yet not heavy at all. Best dark lager I have had in many years

 

Fantastic offering from Hailstorm!! Perfect mesh of dark roasted malts and noble hops... cocoa...coffee...floral hops....a dark beer that can be enjoyed in hot weather... very refreshing and quite enjoyable....

Beer pours a light reddish brown color. When held to the light its clear and see-through. Thin tan head dissipates quickly leaving just a barely there ring of foam along the outside of the beer.

Aroma has notes of cereal grains, dry Cheerios, some lightly roasted malts, and a hint of tobacco ash.

Taste follows the nose with lots of grain notes up front followed by some spicy herbal hops and lightly toasted malts. Hops are quite pronounced here in a very nice way. Finish leaves a mild bready flavor on the palate.

Feel is light, drinkable and smooth. Light to moderate carbonation. Semi-dry finish.

Overall a nice dark lager - clearly based on the Czech dark lager style. The hops really pop in this in a pleasant way.
