Imperial Dark Ale brewed in collaboration with Listermann Brewing Company
Last year we came up with the idea to take components of Vlad and add in some of the wonderful malts that go into Listermann's Chickow. What we came up with is Vlad's Day Off, an incredible imperial dark ale with sweet honey and spicy rye notes.

16 ounce can into a tulip snifter. Canned 2/14/19, had 3/12/19.
Pours near black and opaque, with a two inch plus foamy head with great retention and a good amount of foamy lacing. Aromas of chocolate, malt, molasses, smoke, caramel, raisins, coffee, herbal hops, light licorice. The flavor mostly follows the aroma- chocolate, malt, caramel, vanilla, coffee, light raisins, a little molasses, an herbal hop bitterness. Smooth, lightly creamy, a very good full body, well carbonated.
This has an interesting composition. Definitely not a straight stout. Kind of tough to put a finger on. Very good aroma and flavor, great feel, very enjoyable. A solid collaboration where the sum is greater than the individual parts. Will be interesting to see how it ages.

Wow an american black ale in 2019. I just had to get it, and it did not disappoint. Cloudy pitch black body with plenty of tan foam. Smell has baker's chocolate, walnut, coffee, and slight hops. Taste has the same, plus a ton of chewy, bready malts. Sweeter than expected, honestly would categorize this as a dark lager or schwarzbier more than black ale, not hoppy enough. This is tasty, very tasty, just hard to categorize, especially feel. So hopefully you have read this far in my rambling to know this is worth your time, just not sure what to call it, would love to hear what you think!

From a 16 oz can.
Pours verk dark brown with a frothy khaki head.
Aroma is mild chocolate.
Flavor is a too bit sweet for my liking, but drinkable.
Medium bodied.
BA's listing call this a Russian Imperial Stout, I don't think so. Untapped, and the brewers label calls it an Imperial Dark Ale. I wad expecting a Black IPA, or a Cascadian IPA. Whatever they want to call is fine with me. Overall, its a pretty tasty beer.
This is a collaboration beer from Hailstorm and Listermann Brewing Co. from Cincinnati.
