Schwarzbier, is simply German for black beer. Unlike other dark beers, like porters or stouts, they are not overly bitter with burnt and roasted malt characteristics that the others tend to depend on. Very refreshing and soul lifting beers, they also make a great alternative for the Winter. Especially when you are looking for a lighter beer, but one with depth, color, and taste.

Appearance - The beer was poured a black color with a tan head and generous lacing.
Smell - The nose had lager yeast and dark malts. It smelled like a traditional beer.
Taste - The initial taste was nice and roasty. Coffee came with bitter acidic notes. Toward the finish, there was something oddly dry and tart. It seemed as thought there was some green apple in my schwarzbier.
Mouthfeel - With light carbonation, the feel was smooth and somewhat creamy.
Overall - The aftertaste for this beer was all wrong.
