Served from the can in a Phase Three snifter.
What better than some chocolaty java to ease the temperament of a vicious voivode? Anyway, this stuff pours a deep midnight brown (rather close to black) topped by a half-finger of glowing off-tan foam. The nose comprises rich coffee, light cocoa powder, roasted malts, mild barrel, and a hint of molasses. The taste brings in more of the same, the headlining coffee and cocoa cooperating rather well on the tongue. The body is a hefty medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a smooth feel. Overall, a pretty nice BA RIS, a bit thin for my liking (especially at this strength), but one with some solid flavors.
