one of the better beers at comrade right now, but also one thats more like others, less distinct, as well done as it is. i like that its more of a piney woodsy hop profile, rather than the citrus type, which sometimes clashes with the dark barley. this on is well balanced between the two, and the oily hops mellow the bitterness of the roasted grain. fuller bodied and creamy in texture, it really coats the palate nicely, not overly hopped or stupidly aggressive, but plenty drinkable. reminds me off self-righteous from stone a lot in its bigness yet drinkability. maybe a little more on the pine side than just the bitter side than stone, but similar vibe overall. i wish it was better carbonated, its a real negative for me with most of the comrade stuff on tap. they all seem a bit flat, and it effects this one more than some of the others i think. overall nice flavored black beer though, one i will look forward to drinking again.
