This is an evolving beer. Just had Honeyman the Fifth at the brewery. Markedly better than the previous version. Smooth, a little sweet, great hops.

Sampler at the brewery. Solid ambiguously hoppy effort. Very enjoyable. Not very unique

First impression a week ago when I tried this on-draught at Comrade was that this was a:
B-.
Reviewing below from a growler fill acquired hours ago at the brewery. Served cold into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass. Expectations are above average.
No bubble show forms as it's poured.
HEAD: Four fingers wide. White colour. Fairly creamy. Moderately thick. Full. Retention is good - about 7-8 minutes - impressive for a growler fill. Light lacing sticks to the sides of the glass as it recedes.
BODY: Clear translucent copper-gold with yellow hues. Average vibrance. Clean; no yeast particulate or hop sediment is visible.
Overall, it's a nice looking pale ale but nothing special. What you'd expect.
AROMA: Boasts an emphatic fresh hop profile: floral notes, mild citrus, limited resins. Quite appealing, but the bitterness is well disguised by the pale malt sweetness. Seems balanced, with no evident cloying sweetness or biting bitterness. No yeast character, off-notes, or alcohol is detectable.
Average aromatic intensity. It's pleasant, but has no stand-out characteristics. Certainly appealing.
TASTE: A kiss of rindy fruit hop bitterness, fresh floral hop notes, a hint of resinous character, and a bit of generic indistinct fruitiness all over a pale malt foundation. It's balanced, but largely unevocative. I hesitate to call it plain, but it's certainly a bit reticent and lacks depth of flavour. Average complexity and subtlety for the style. Average flavour duration and intensity. The taste fails to suggest the freshness that the aroma does. It just comes off tasting like a middle of the road pale ale.
TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, refreshing, crisp, well-carbonated but not quite dialed in, light to medium bodied, and aptly thick. It's not heavy or overbearing on the palate. Overall presence on the palate is nice but wanting. This texture complements the taste well enough, but fails to elevate the beer.
Not oily, gushed, hot, boozy, astringent, harsh, rough, or scratchy.
OVERALL: Absolutely drinkable. It's a nice albeit middle-of-the-road pale ale, and unfortunately fails to impress. Those drinkers hoping for a pale ale equivalent of Comrade's stellar Superpower IPA will be left disappointed. This will scratch the discerning drinker's pale ale itch, but will be soon forgotten. There are far better pale ales out there, but this is offered at an appropriate price point and is absolutely worth trying. Still, don't go out of your way for it (e.g. trading). Its best aspect is actually the slightly rindy fruit bitterness, with flirts with an intriguing tropical fruit character but never commits.
