Had on tap at Bierstadt Lager House (Collaborator)
On arrival 1.5 fingers of white head were present that over a couple minutes fade to a thin covering. Super light delicate lacing forms. Body is an amber brass, so a bit lighter than usual for the style. Fine carbonation.
Aroma is dead on for the style. A lager-y fermentation aroma hovers over a mix of toasty malts and spicy but light noble hops. Slight nuttiness.
Taste is very nice. The malty nuttiness comes out which I love. At first there is a definite crispness. Not bitter until a vague bitterness on the very finish, but light hpppy floral spicy notes are present. Light amd toasted.
Feel is very crisp with a medium long finish of warming mouth coating nuttiness. Despite the mouth coating feel, this is a relatively attenuated beer. Carbonation is relatively high.
Overall I was skeptical of the light color, but this beer lives up to being called an altbier. Super smooth malty notes accompanied by German lager feel.
