A: Deep copper to brownish hue with 2 fingers of light tan head. The head lasts through out leaving fluffy lacing on the glass as it goes down.
S: Lots of hop aromas mingle as I open the bottle. Strong astringent bitterness of pine, straw and hints of citrus sweetness. As it warms the honey sweetness blends nicely with the pine aroma.
T: First wave of bitter piney hops that are washed over by an equally balanced honey sweetness. The bitterness lingers a bit in the finish. There are also hints of plum like sweetness, earthy straw notes and a tiny hint of alcohol burn as it goes down. Very balanced for an IPA with a good malt profile.
M: Very thick and creamy mouthfeel. The carbonation is creamy and smooth and transitions the hop bite to the sweet malt very well.
O: Solid double ipa. I like the balance of sweetness with the depth of malt flavors that burst through the intial hop rush.
