The milk stout was very popular in the United States prior to World War II. It uses lactose sugar to add a smooth, mellow sweetness to the beer. Our milk stout was crafted using brown, chocolate, and coffee specialty malts to create a subtle nutty, chocolate sense with a coffee undertone. A hint of pure vanilla is added late in the fermentation stage to tease the senses and round out a touch of vanilla sweetness. This dark brown stout has already found a great following even amount the less experienced craft drinker and is often described as a desert beer. Try it with ice cream!

Appearance: Deep ebon body crowned by a large, coarse, tan head, which retains fairly well. Scattered, patchy lacing adorns the glass walls.
Aroma: Rather tangy aroma of burnt malt, char, vanilla, oak, cold and slightly acidic coffee, bitter chocolate, and ripe plums.
Taste: The taste begins with roasted and charred malt, soon after there is bitter chocolate, cold coffee, ripe plums, and a modest vanilla presence. Later in the taste, there is a mild suggestion of oak. Finishes with a lingering note of of vanilla and cold coffee.
Mouth feel: Very smooth and quite full, with moderately zesty carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: A very well-made and well-balanced example of the style, with no real detractions. Would pair very well with rich chocolate desserts, while the mild ABV of 5% doesn't present the need for an early bedtime.
Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce brown glass long neck bottle with a pry-off crown, served in a Duvel tulip glass.
Technical: From the label: Alc/Vol 5.0% IBU 28, SRM 95.
