Cool concept, laid back vibe but not a dive. Book shelves all around. Come and study or play games, or do some trivia or read a book. Beers are local and good for a small scale production. Food isn’t gourmet but it’s ok. Welcoming atmosphere. Small stage and they sometimes have trivia and live music. One of the few (more or less) kid friendly places to have a beer.

Amazing place! Packed full of very friendly folks, and the staff is equally as friendly if not more so. Great vibe due to countless books around, great live local music, and unique accents everywhere. Love the beer names, and while I'm hoping the beer quality matches the rest of this great place soon, I can't wait to come back! Wish I lived here in town just because of this place being available - great concept, and I wish them all the best!

First time here. This place us a lot of fun! We came on a Saturday night to find fantastic free live music and a solid beer selection. Food menu looked impressive but we didn't eat. The beer isn't mindblowing but the barrel aged offerings were a nice touch. The service was impeccable! Free samples and a super friendly, knowledgeable staff. Definitely looking forward to coming back.

A quirky little place nestled in a retail area next to a Home Depot. I'm guessing most of their business comes from selling beer because the used bookstore is pretty tiny. Accordingly, every single person who came in on that quiet Sunday afternoon came in for the beer.

That being said, Books & Brew has a good selection of beers, most with humorous literary names. The guys behind the bar were amiable and let us sample several until we found some that we liked. Prices were reasonable. They also have a small food menu of mainly sandwiches that looked good though we weren't hungry.

On the day we were there they were playing '90s hip hop through the speakers, which my wife enjoyed. The bar itself has a warehouse feel to it. We did not see any TV's.

Used bookstore in the front with tables for board games (a wide variety of which are available), and a brewpub in the back with a PA setup for live music; a jam session was wrapping up when we arrived around 6:30pm. Handmade tables and chairs in a converted warehouse area adjoining the more polished-looking bookstore, the facility also has a larger side room with dart boards and additional seating. Had about 13 beers on tap tonight. Also about 15 beers bottled for sale to-go, with about half of those being distinct from the tap list.

Bartender was very friendly and offered free samples of anything we were interested in before deciding on flights and pints. Daily specials included $4 pints on Mondays. We also got food, which is of the chips-and-variants-on-grilled-cheese variety but were quite good, the chips in particular; they are apparently not made in-house but are made by a local business. All in all, we had a great time, got a few bottles to go, and definitely plan to go back.

Very different from other brewpubs! Book store area at front, bar is in back of location. Pretty small, though this is a microbrewery. The beer is very good. Activities include board game night, D&D, etc. Staff was very open to answering questions and a happy atmosphere was present. Off the beaten path in a business/office strip mall by Home Depot off E. 96th St and I-69 area. I have to say, this location/venue has picked up in business since opening as word is getting out that it's there, and their bottles are all over local liquor stores. They must be doing something right! Worth a visit if you are in the area.

Really unusual place in that it's next to a Home Depot in a strip mall. It's also well out of the way from most anything else. You walk in and it's a lot of books, which is not quite what I was expecting. The brewpub is the next room over. Very industrial. Kind of like the loading dock area that was converted. Nice enough, I guess. I only had one beer and didn't care for it at all. I hope that it's the exception and not the rule. Not quite sure how they are going to pull off this unusual mix of things, but I hope it works out for them.

Definitely a place to visit for some good local brew. Unique take on the bookstore/coop. They try to use all local ingredients, and are expanding! They run through a lot of special beers, which can be nice to taste a one of a kind beer. They do have some regularly brewed beers as well (tried and true). Tabletop game nights, retro video gaming, kids day on Sundays...it's a pretty nifty place. Their food offerings are a bit slim, so eat before and maybe get some munchies while there.

I would definitely go with the sampler first to see which one you like.

This place should be on every beer lover's destination list. Run by true appreciators of the craft, they are eager to share their knowledge and enjoyment of the experience with anyone interested in sharing it. Set against a bookstore backdrop, the atmosphere was one that encouraged conversation and interaction. Talk of beer was central, but did not monopolize the conversation. Even an introvert like myself felt at ease in a room full of strangers. They have a massive rotation of and development of new and varied homebrews, of which 12 were active on this first visit. Return visits are guaranteed. It was stated their offerings are always changing. Hence, their chalkboard beer menu. One should not necessarily expect to see the same beers on tap from visit to visit.
Sampling was also encouraged. And I was more than willing to oblige, enjoying each and every offering, which came with a brief and accurate description. Our host Austin clearly understood the finer points and was able to relay them to a wide range of patrons with varying levels of experience. Most of their beer names came from the patrons themselves, and seemed to be based in literature. I particularly enjoyed their Charlie's Great Glass Ale-e-Vator, although the Cherry Cherry Quite Contrary and the Dark and Stormy stout were also quite enjoyable. While I may not be able to speak the beer lingo as best as I would like, this place would certainly appeal to those who can, right down to the curious who are looking to grow beyond the pisswater palate.
