Part of my Covid-19 survival package. First American wild ale, I'm a big fan of Gueze, and wild fermentation in general.
Label shows a winged grim reaper.
Served in my trusted "Seef" tumbler.
Beer looks like urine. Slight hazy yellow liquid with virtually no carbonation, no head.
Scent is minimal overall. What I can find is somewhat reminiscent of Geuze combined with tobacco.
Flavour is not complex, but still rewarding. Fullbodied creamy and slightly sour. I expected the sourness to be much stronger, but its actually well balanced against the softer cereal yeasty element. The sourness has a tropical fruit element to it. Overripe pineapple or passion fruit.
Aftertaste becomes a bit drier. Sourness in the throat and mouth, tobacco and "red wine aftertaste" in the mouth.
Quite enjoyable. Recognisable as a Geuze drinker, but surely a beer in its own right.
