Mash is a very unique brewpub located in one of London's busier shopping districts. The decor is ultra-modern, and the three-barrel, automated brewing system is on display behind the DJ booth, until happy hour when a curtain is pulled across. The crowd is very young and techno music blares from the speakers. The beer caters to this young crowd in that when I was there they were serving a wheat, a wit, and a summer blonde, along with their vienna lager. The beer was actually quite good and seemed true to style.

Quite simply, this is too trendy a place to have a decent "beer" really. Upon the entrance one might get a feeling of it being a trendy flower shop+cocktail bar/restaurant, as there're so many exotic flowers and wild plant-themed decorations on display and for sale right at the front of the restaurant. A waitress waits at the door and takes me and my GF to the table, with full table service, hence the 15%(or 12.5%?) service charge to be added in the end...

The deco. is slightly "POP Art" style, if you know what I mean... reminiscent of some 1950s atmosphere. Pretty spacious the whole restaurant is, but with a open-plan it looks rather crowded. The bar and beer vessels are at the rear of the whole place, so at first we couldn't even recognise that was indeed a brewpub from outside the building.

Confusing facts behind the 4 house beers: Mash beer, Vienna Style, Belgian Wheat, and Festival Golden. According to Meantime brewery's website, they are brewed and bottled for Mash by Meantime, but according to Mash's own website they're brewed by Rainer at the premise... If the former is the case, I'd say they are way below the quality of Meantime's house range. Only "Mash Beer" was above average quality IMO. Check my beer reviews and I still couldn't believe how they can sell everything at such a high price. The service is very good though, as the waitress for my table was attentive and polite, though had very limited knowledge about beers.

The whole place is definitely a trendy bar restaurant appealing to the young and posh in West End London, but not a place to enjoy good beers (as the beers are all so expensive even for London living standard and lacklustre...).
