From 08/03/14 notes. Parent's brought this back from Dublin for me. 12 oz bottle with a best before April 2015 date on it, poured into a tulip.
a - Pours a deep brown, almost black color, with two fingers plus of medium tan head and moderate to high carbonation evident. Lots of retention and lacing left on the glass.
s - Smells of caramel malts, chocolate malt, sweet dark fruit malts, bread, grains, toasted malts, light chocolate, and honey. Interesting nose, not what I normally associate with a porter but I like it.
t - Tastes of bitter dark chocolate, roasted malts, light coffee, bready malts, toasted malts, bitter hops, chalk, and burnt malts. Taste is pretty bitter; not bad but not as good as the nose.
m - Medium body and high carbonation evident. Over-carbonated.
o - Overall a nice nose but too carbonated and the taste is decently bitter. Better than the pale ales I've had from Ireland but not like an American porter.
