Was happy to see this one show up at my doorstep a couple years back. We put it against the Tilquin stout at the annual Beer Day in Waterloo. Cheers guys!
From a 750 into a tasting glass.
Collaboration with Uli from h.ertie Huisstekerij
APPEARANCE: Pours out very light brown and yields no real head at all. Dark brown body in the glass but not carbonation or head. Just flat looking.
SMELL: More lambic than stout here. Funky, lots of barnyard aroma with some tart, lemon sourness for sure. Smells nice.
TASTE: Sour lemon, lots of it, with some barnyard and hay flavors up front. No acidity at all. Flavorful finish with lots of barnyard funk, sour, tart lemon and citrus flavors. No stout character here at all.
PALATE: Flat and silky. Medium bodied. Finishes quick slick.
OVERALL: This was a really fun beer to drink and I was very happy to cross paths with one. It had some nice lambic qualities, though the stout counterpart wasn’t really part of the show. Moreover, the lack of carbonation made it a little less enjoyable than it could have been, though in this style, no carbonation isn’t necessarily a big deal for most people. This was loads of fun, but in terms of quality, I’d definitely have to give the nod to the Tilquin. Thanks for sharing, guys!
