A - Amber body with about a finger head that leaves nice lacing. Nice bubbles rising.
S - Citrus hops which would indicate the citra hops used with a clean sweet smell to end.
T - A nice hop taste at the start which then transitions to a nice malt sweetness equally balanced with its bitterness.
M - Medium body and carbonation, feels fairly smooth and easy on the palate.
O - Firstly I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews and there shouldn't be, this one is good, lacks a bit of flavour and hop bitterness but so do a lot of IPA's out there. Another feature of this beer is the hops and malt indicated on the side of the bottle and as you drink it, you can start to taste them a little more. This was a good and clean IPA.

Format: a standard 330mL brown bottle with a reasonable semi-macro label.

Appearance: pours out a clear dark amber-gold with visible chunky carbonation. A haif-finger white head drops away fairly quickly to a thin ring.

Aroma: smells of bitter. Not bitter citrus hops, or pine hops - just a really awkward bitterness.

Taste: bleugh! That awkward bitterness fug is even stronger here - quite hard to drink. A lot of breweries forget that strong hops should still have some flavour - this is a good (or bad?) example.

Aftertaste: lingering awkwardness. This is a really hard beer to drink.

Mouth feel: a light- to-moderate feel with a chunky carbonation that feels a bit awkward. I wonder if it would be better if the flavours were better.

Overall: I was quite a fan of Red Island's Quiet Deeds Pale Ale, however their IPA falls way short. Very little flavour other than an awful bitterness that has no flavour. Add to that a price of around AU$80 a case of 24 x 330mL, and this is one I will be steering clear of for good.

Taste off against their Pale.
IPA wins but really neither are winners.
Moderate hop addition to Pale but still all bread on nose, and somewhat stale hops only come on thru the taste.

Hazy dark amber color with a small white head. Fair head retention.

Light aroma. Touches of citrus but there isn't really much here.

Slightly sweet malt. Very light bitterness. Mild citrus. Disappointing.

Medium body with moderately high carbonation. Okay.

A decent pale ale but a pale imitation of an IPA.
