Pours an effervescent mahogany with a thumb of tan head. Good head retention & lacing
S: Roastyness and carob, a little caramel shows up once warm
T: Roasty, piney, with a little char and baker's chocolate up front. More char & woodiness as this warms, a little chocolate helps balance this out. Finishes piney, a little astringent & dry
MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation, okay balance
A good take on the style, a little less astringency would help the cause, drinks reasonably easy

Pours a black color. 1/4 inch head of an off-tan color. Slight retention and slight lacing. Smells of roasted malt, piney hops, slight sweet malt, hint of alcohol, and slight yeast. Fits the style of an American Black Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of roasted malt, piney hops, slight sweet malt, hint of alcohol, and slight yeast. Fits the style of an American Black Ale. Overall, strong body, well blended, but nothing outstanding.
