From the sign above the bar. Espresso Porter--"Made with real espresso beans, this local favorite is the new way to start the day!"
16oz. glass at the bar on Super Bowl Sunday.
A: Pours an oil looking deep brown, almost black, with no head. Bubbly on the edges, which takes on a soapy like look. No lace.
S: Big expresso bean notes with a slight charcoal presence. It's like I just stuck my nose in a bag of expresso beans. Earthy notes with a barklike presence.
T/M: Huge expresso bean flavors coupled with that coffeelike bitterness. A bit too flat and tastes like a cup of coffee, although it's very drinkable. Thick body at first that turns thin towards the finish. Smooth on the palate.
D: Drinkable to an extent. Flatness doesn't bother me too much, though it was kind of flat. The note on the board above the bar really rings true to this brew---it could replace a morning cup.
