crazy they have two kumquat beers on tap right now, who does that? this one is simple as a base beer without the fruit, berliner sort of vibes to me, lemony and pretty clean on the lacto souring, and the tangy kumquates resonate at a similar pitch here, its mouthwatering, minimal, and well refined, and the kumquat is obvious as such, unique in here, and cool to see it without a bunch of other fruits, its a nice expression of it, juicy just like the kumquat ipa is. rather light looking from the tap, near clear, an orange tone to it, not much head retention, but a puckery piquant nose that makes it seem plenty lively even still. i get a light dry hop profile here too, could be a tease from the fruit, but this has like grapefruit and orange on the finish too, and while its pretty tart overall, its also got some bitterness. light and drinkable, not too acidic for that, better carbonation than it looks like it should have, and a very drying palate at the end. well balanced, im glad i can taste some grain in here too. pleasant stuff, cool use of this fruit, but i definitely liked the kumquat ipa a little better...
