Poured from a crowler into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a three finger khaki head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa, light lactose and a touch of coffee. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, cocoa, hints of raisins and a touch of coffee and bitterness in the finish.Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A solid and satisfying domestic style porter. The nice chocolate malt base is to style and there are wisps of raisins and coffee appearing during the taste to keep things interesting. Nicely brewed and enjoyable.
