Damn, this was a huge beer. I sampled it--several times--at the Mid-Winter Brewfest down at the Milwaukee Ale House. According to the guy at the booth, this was the last of the batch; it was no longer on tap at the brewpub. That being the case, I'm very glad I got to try it. I'm a big fan of Dragon's Milk from New Holland, a big barrel-aged beer, and the Okauchee Scotchie blew it away. Couldn't even really taste the Dragon's Milk after sampling this. The first sip was repulsively heavy on whiskey (not bourbon; the sign said it was "Whiskey Barrel Aged"), but with each sip, it grew on me more and more. Huge notes of whiskey and vanilla, with a bit of sweet tequila thrown in. Taste was slightly too sweet and smoky/meaty, but with a delicious vanilla finish. Base flavor of milk chocolate. A fanastically drinkable beer given its outsized characteristics.
