Brewed first in the Fall of 2014, Chili Chocolate Gold Cup was our original Gold Cup variant. Designed to bring some extra heat as temperatures drop, Chili Chocolate Gold Cup is aged on chipotle peppers and cacao nibs. Layers of dark chocolate intermingle with heat and smoke from the peppers, giving our Russian Imperial Stout a touch of ancient Aztec, and making it a drink worthy of the gods!

L: Had this on-tap at Whole Foods, poured into an 8oz. stem glass. Had a dark brown / black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, tan-colored, long-lasting head. Excellent lacing.
S: A slightly muted aroma of chocolate, coffee, malt, chili peppers, licorice, and smoke.
T: Tasted of a decent amount of malt (present throughout; a major factor), a hint of coffee (very fleeting), some chili peppers (mostly in the finish; kind of faint), a moderate amount of dark chocolate (fairly sweet), a little smoke, and licorice as well. Not a bad flavor, if a little on the subdued side.
F: A fair amount of carbonation with a smooth, warm finish. Medium-bodied.
O: A wildly uneven beer, but it has some good qualities. Worth a look.

Not bad, but really mild without much chocolate or chili character.

On tap @ The Answer Brewpub. Pours deep black w/ tan colored head, somewhat short lasting but leaves a ring around the side of the glass, giving just enough to have a little on each sip throughout the first half of the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, malt, vanilla, smoked chili, cinnamon. Flavor follows the aroma exactly. Really enjoy the chipoltle pepers used in this one. They have almost a sweet/spicy flavor that melds with the malts perfectly. Slightly more carbonated than expected but could be due to draft system. My first offering from Old Bust Head and VERY MUCH worthwhile. Good job guys.
