Poured into a snifter out of a 12 Oz can.

A Light tan head floated atop the nearly pitch black beer that held a slight brown hew through the light, as expected from a porter. The head faded fairly quickly and left a lightly carbonated beer.

Smells of cold brewed coffee, chocolate and roasted malt.

The cold brew coffee is the first flavor to hit the palet followed by crisp chocolate malt and a surprisingly pleasent boosy taste, like coffee spiked with kaluha. The light carbonation further added a smoothness to the flavor and feel of the beer that all meshed very well together.

On the back half of the pallet, the beer doubles down on the rich notes of coffee roasted malt and a pinch of alcohol. Unlike many porters, this beer doesn't leave the pallet overwhelmed with a sticky sweet layer. It had a pleasent crisp and clean finish.

This beer will definitely be my go-to coffee porter while I'm in NC. Though coffee porters are fairly common, Dirt Bag Ale has done an exceptional job at perfecting the style.
