Driven by a love for craft beer and a passion for brewing, the Phoenix Brewing Company was founded by local beer enthusiasts looking to bring a craft beer revival to Mansfield. Passionate about the Mansfield community, they located downtown in the Carrousel district near the original pre-prohibition brewery sites. The Phoenix took flight in April 2014 landing in the beautifully restored 103 year old Schroer Funeral Home and Mortuary. The partners created an authentic pub experience filled with quality craft beer and live music. The taproom offers 16 taps of hand-crafted beers made on site and also guest Ohio brews, local Ohio wines, and Ohio distilled spirits. Guests can enjoy their beverages in the taproom or on the two adjacent patios. Food trucks are available seasonally but patrons may also order food items from the local restaurants or bring in carry out. Live entertainment is booked for weekends and carry out growlers and howlers of Phoenix brews and swag are available to go.

More like a neighborhood bar than a typical craft brewery taproom feels, with local patrons freely flowing in and out either entrance throughout the day, which was fully welcome on this pleasantly sunny day.
Though the vibe is more like everyone should know your name, they've got a sizeable taplist of their own brews. Having browsed their highest rated wares, I was hoping to try one of their barrel aged beers, but none were available. What I did have was passable, if a little underwhelming. Though fairly on style, the quality and expressiveness could be higher.

This place does several beer types very well. Being from the land of IPAs and Hefeweizen, I was afraid of coming off like a beer snob, but no worry here. Their beer was delicious, especially Redemption IPA and Golden Belgian.
Band on Friday night was very dance-able and fun. A must stop when visiting Mohican, or commuting on Friday PM between Cleveland and Columbus.

Very cool place in a brick building that used to be a mortuary. Pleasant folks behind the counter. Very nice selection of craft brews from sours to stouts. No food, but you can order take out. Really enjoyed the two beers I tried, a gose and an imperial stout.

Not a bad place but the service is lacking and the beer is definitely not that good. Just one man's opinion

10 minutes off of I-71 in Mansfield. We were looking for a brewery to stop at on our way back from Cleveland. Went on Sunday right after they opened, but the crowd built steadily while we were there. 12 of their own brews on tap and a couple guest beers. No kitchen, but they partner with a couple places nearby who will deliver to your seat. We didn't try a beer we didn't like or didn't taste or look like the style it was supposed to be.

This is a small north central Ohio brewery with a nice selection of house and guest beers. There is limited food available. The place also serves as a focal point for local music festivals out in its back area and parking lot that it shares with other businesses. The staff are engaging and quick to serve.

My hometown, so I am biased, however; they offer some great beers (black aggie) as well as have a solid rotating tap (fat heads). Absolutely worth checking out. Flights are only $5.

This new place is set in an historic building in the carousel distric of the town near a decent resturant (city grille) and a winery, you can park and walk to all 3. The guys are just getting going so there are a lot of kinks. There is no food there but they do have some arangements with the local establishments for that. They had 4 of their beers on my first night and 3 the next as they run out. They are open on the weekends and it gets pretty crowded. I was there on a thursday night and was very comfortable and not too crowded. Very friendly and the beer was really pretty good considering that this is just getting up and running so Kudos for remembering that the beer comes first. The Beer garden is not yet done but will relieve some of the overcrowding this summer when done I hope. They relly need some more staff as no one likes to stand for 15-20 minutes at the bar for a drink.
I will look forward to the day that the details are worked out and these guys can start experimenting with some different beers. I will stop by on my next pass thru the area

The Phoenix Brewing Company filled a void in the area. The recently opened in downtown Mansfield. The brick building is an old mortuary and was the first fireproof building in Mansfield. There is street parking or a brick lot behind the brewery. It has a patio on the side.
Upon entering the bar takes up about half of the room. The place is not large. Fifty people would fill up the place. The walls are exposed brick with newer woodwork. They started with five in house beers and have since expanded there portfolio to seven. The have a pilsner, pale ale, ESB, oatmeal milk stout, IPA, wheat, and brown ale. They also have guest taps typically from Millersburg Brewing which is an hour away in Amish country.
They offer pints or flights of their beers. Flights are four samples that in which the glasses are placed in a coffin shaped paddle. The tap handles are also coffin shaped. They only have slices of pizza from a local pizza place, Two Cousins Pizza. They have had food trucks at various times and have numbers for places that deliver there.
The bar tends to fill up on weekend nights so get there early. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I was even fortunate enough to get am impromptu tour of the place including the history of the building and formers tenants. It is a newcomer on the craft beer scene. Their beers are average to above average but nothing earth shattering. My personal favorite is the Ferryman, the oatmeal milk stout. They also serve local wine. It is a nice place and worth a visit if in town.
