Modest carbonation but plenty of spritz on the tongue. Color is a dark reddish brown. Malty but surprisingly dry. There is just a hit of smoke and a faint fruitiness. Blackberry and cantaloupe with a bitter edge. Slightly woody and a little tannic in the finish. Plenty drinable but a rather austere version of a Scottish style. From the 32 oz growler purchased at the brewery in Bellingham.

Mahogney colored. Somewhat sweet, with toffee and roasted malt aromas.
