Semi hazy light golden orange color. Good amount of Mandarin orange peel & malt on the nose. Citrus (orange) flavor note.

It used to be fun and enjoyable to buy mystery beers and taste them and get to know them and be surprised by them. However, in this day when any given IPA could taste and smell just like orange juice I have about had it. It's no longer fun. This super-citrusy take on IPAs needs its own name and style. IPA is too broad and I'm tired of getting burned. If you like orange juice then you'll like this beer. If you're in the mood for a beer and don't like orange juice then you'll probably hate it, like me. There should be a warning on cans and bottles when they make ipas that look, smell and taste like orange juice. Some of us hate them.

Look: Pale orange body, one finger white head. Not a typical DIPA look.

Smell : Same as below.

Taste : Orange, mild resin, mild pineapple, mild breadiness, a bit of a floral quality.

Feel : Soft medium body and carbonation, lower hop bitterness compared to other DIPAs, mildly dry.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a nice two finger white head with good retention, lots of lacing and active carbonation. Aroma of pale malt with a hint of caramel, tropical fruit, especially pineapple, citrus hops, mildly spicy. Flavor is bready and lightly caramel malt, citrus hops, orange and lemon, pineapple, light stone fruit. Finishes with citrus rind and mildly piney hops with residual tropical fruit with a suggestion of dry grass at the end. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A pleasant IPA that drinks more like a pale ale and shows off its Amarillo hops heritage. Not too complex, but a good presentation of the this hop variety. Apparently this was canned this morning and arrived for purchase in Seattle the same day. Not too bad for a distribution system that can take months to get beer from California. Fresh cans of IPAs are a wonderful thing.
