Blended from two and three year beers aged in French Oak, Act Two is the third in our series of 100% coolship-captured spontaneously fermented lambic-style beers. The blended beer was subsequently aged on locally grown blackberries and bottle conditioned for six months. Dry with jammy mouth puckering blackberry tartness layered with brettanomyces funk.

Cellared a year and a half. Pours a deep cranberry red with an off-white collar. Huge sour berries with barrel and wild funk, bright oak and lacto in nose. Taste has deep berries, especially blackberry, sweet and sour together very nicely almost jammy, clear star here. Oak, lacto, and yogurt funk are very very light. Feel is sour, light and smooth, and more funky than in other aspects. Nice work, clearly new world but well done!

A: The beer is very dark brownish red when viewed from afar; when held up to the light it gets a bit redder but it is still too dark to see if there is any visible carbonation. It poured with a short off white head that left a narrow collar around the edge.
S: Light to moderate aromas of blackberry juice are present in the nose along with notes of vinegar.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of blackberries and vinegar along with a light to moderate amount of associated sourness. There are also some hints of oak from the barrel aging in the finish.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and rather tart on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has a heavy dose of blackberries that help to take the edge off of the underlying lambic. I found it to be very enjoyable for the style.

500ml bottle into a Brugges glass. Recent release.
Pours a burgundy body with little or no head, core darker with reddish outer layer.
Kind of a woody vinegary aroma, not unpleasant.
On tasting, quite interesting. There is a progression of flavors and feels. A light sweetness to begin with, then quite sour with some clean vinegar notes. The tart but sweet blackberry floats in and out. There is a woodiness that fades. Finally, a burn in the back of the throat.
Mouth medium, finish a dark fruit sweet/tart with a late burn that doesn't seem to be abv related.
Overall, interesting beer. I have very little experience with lambics. Not something I would want to have often, but a good one to muse over once in a while. Appreciate that a lot went into producing this drink.
