I"m reviewing this as an "American Strong Ale," which is what it says on the label underneath the name, "Winter Warmer." Whatever it is, the hops are in command. Plenty of roasted malt and burnt sugar, though not very sweet. The hops are leafy and green and take over the finish. Then the bitter aftertaste. Actually it reminds me of an Imperial Red, which is what it looks like anyway with the clear chestnut color. Strong and highly flavored, and I'd call it "challenging." From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station. Not dated.
