Mahogany color with a thin head with short retention.
Caramel malt aroma with notes of red fruits, light booze, earth, mild pine and oranges.
Flavor of dark fruits, caramel malt, mild pine, wood and ashes, a bit herbal, mild citrusy, nutmeg and peaches.
Dry aftertaste with a bitterness that partially comes from its malt.
Medium to full body with low carbonation. Alcohol of 9% abv is well disguised. Sticky feeling.
Nice reasonably balanced Barley Wine with decent complexity. It could be a tad less sweet for my taste, but still very well executed and a good sipper. Rothhammer has consistent produced good brews in very different styles.
