It's a bit light in color for a stout, opting for a very dark ruby body and khaki-colored head over pitch blackness. The espresso-forward nature of the aroma, though, isn't light at all. Big notes of roasted coffee and even lemon peel dominate the nose. I wish more of the base stout was more prevalent, but this is a great coffee showcase. I wish I could say the same about the flavor profile. It opens up with strong espresso...and it doesn't seem to be pleasant or well-rounded. The middle is actually fairly bitter. Though it ends with a dark chocolate quality, it's too little, too late. This is just too bitter yet lacking in flavor like a mediocre IPA...but uh oh, it's an imperial stout. The feel is also quite thin, but it's at least easy drinking. It's hard to tell this is 10%. This one had promise, but it ends up being mediocre - much like many other Jailbreak brews.

At the Jailbreak taproom, jet black with minimal tan head but leaves some lacing. Really nice aroma, coffee, vanilla, and some sugary molasses. Coffee and vanilla are prominent, also has a solid bitter backbone from the hops. Silky smooth and roasted mouthfeel, really good stuff. Another awesome brew from Jailbreak!

The best beer I have had from Jailbreak.
Nice dark looking beer. Smells great. Coffee and vanilla taste with a smooth finish that coats your mouth. Not available in bottles or cans yet. But fits nicely in a growler.

Apearance: nice white lacing with rings and a nice dark hue.
Smell: coffee, creme brûlée , vanilla on the nose.
Taste: Honey, coffee, and vanilla mixed to a perfect blend.
Mouthfeel: Silky and smooth with little carbonation.
Overall: I' m a little surprised that I have to justify my rating here! One of the best beers I've had! This beer will appeal to the masses as well as the beer snob! Really good!

Way to much anise. Tastes like cough syrup...or nyquil
