Formerly Miami Weiss
Funk Sway begins as a traditional kettle-soured Berliner Weisse, but is transformed into a fruit-forward springtime delight via plentiful additions of key lime puree. Intensely pleasant key lime aromatics are punctuated by firm tartness with a large supporting role from hefty proportions of malted wheat. Funk Sway is approachable to those perhaps unfamiliar with traditional Berliner Weisse, but its appeal to sour beer lovers is thoroughly undeniable.

Funk Sway from Jailbreak Brewing. Purchased 11/10/20 for $ 2.49 (Including tax and discount) for 12 oz can ($ 0.203/oz) from State Line Liquors in Elkton, MD. Reviewed 4/1/21.
Bottom of can marked “Funk It Up 06/06/19”. On room temperature shelf at store and stored at home at 42 degrees. Served at 45.5 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 49.6 degrees.
Appearance – 3.5.
First pour – Pale straw (SRM 2), initially clear but some sediment drops at the end of the pour.
Body – Straw (SRM 3), murky. When held to direct light, same with visible curtains of sediment.
Head – Average (Maximum 3.5 cm, aggressive center pour), white, medium density and fizzy, short retention, leaving neither crown nor cap.
Lacing – None, as expected.
Aroma – 3.5 – Begins with distinct key lime, no malt, no yeast. Smells refreshing.
Flavor – 3.25 – Begins tart with less key lime than the nose suggests, no malt, no yeast. No alcohol (4 % ABV, as marked on container) found in either nose or taste. Gastric warming does not occur. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Ends tart and refreshing.
Palate – 3 – Medium, watery, lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation 3.5 Very refreshing! Qualifies as a before-, during-, and post-lawnmowing beer.

Thanks to OzzyLizard for this one, from a LIF during NBS BIF #12. 12oz can (dated 6/6/19) poured into 14oz teku. Poured a cloudy medium yellow color with over 1/2 inch of white that dissipated promptly and left no lacing.
The initial scent was tartness, but the lime showed through behind that. Just a faint hint of grain in the background.
Similar on the tongue, tartness at first, lime in the middle, and a bit of sourness lingered at the back.
The body was light, clean, and crisp, with a dry finish.
Drinkability was very good, I could see crushing several of these on a summer day.
Overall, a nice little brew, certainly worth a shot if you see it.

Acknowledging that the style isn't my favorite, I do enjoy a good lime drink; and this one had lime through and through. Gray-ish yellow green in the glass, with a fizzy head that dissipated immediately, though the carbonation was evident. Tart (sour) lemon-lime in the nose, with a very tart (it is a Berliner, after all) flavor profile that is almost all lime. And did I mention it's sour? Puckeringly so. But low ABV and a somewhat refreshing body rendered this a fun summer beer indeed. Definitely worth trying.

Nice light berliner weisse with a burst of tart key lime. Well balanced between tart, wheat, and fruit. No alcohol is detectable. A sixer of this at the beach would be lovely.

Pale light yellow with some haze. Typical banana peel and clove scents. Very tart and citrusy, almost shandy-like. Light, crisp, good session beer for hot weather. Bonus points for clever name.
