Very Good
Special Lady FriendSpecial Lady Friend
Notes: Special Lady Friend is very special indeed, an all Mosaic hazy IPA which results from the culmination of experience gained through the last year or so of thoughtful experimentation with varied yeasts, hops, and procedural techniques. Originating from a sturdy base of 2-row, white wheat, and flaked oats, Special Lady Friend boasts a purified expression of Mosaic, given that Mosaic lupulin constitutes 50% of the dry hop by weight. Overripe pineapple, candied orange, and the fresh essence of blueberry dominate the nose, while the palate experience melds into a pithy melange of tropical fruit, ultimately resulting in a dry, yet soft, elegant finish. Cheers!

Lightly hazy bright yellow, pearl white finger of foam, lacing. Lemon, pineapple, mango, and significant grapefruit with moderate piney hops in the nose. Taste is a clone only pineapple takes over the lead from grapefruit, hops are the finisher but in a light fashion. Body is slightly thin, bright and decently crisp, just want a touch more of hop bitters to round out. Nice ipa for the porch

Small sample at Salisbury MD Good Beer Festival. Billed as a NEIPA. Pours a slightly hazy light amber with almost no head. Initial impression is fairly juicy grapefruit, assisted by mango, a touch of pine, and a good dose of caramel. Mouthfeel is medium - it could be a little more pillow-y and have some more heft to it. Finish is soft and sweet. Good but not great.

Best hazy ipa I have had in a long time. Super smooth and juicy. Had on draft at Trucksteraunt in Baltimore MD. Pours hazy, with good color. Would definitely get again.

Pours a hazy gold with zero foam
Lots of grapefruit, pine and citrus smell
Not thin but not thick on feel. Just a good solid IPA
Great hoppy taste, wonderful citrus flavors. Just a wonderful local Maryland IPA.
Would highly recommend

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours semi cloudy yellow with a fluffy white head. Smells of passion fruit and citrus hops, very inviting. Tastes of passion fruit with slight citrus aftertaste notes. Beer is light bodied and very easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

appearance: nice 2 finger head, foamy white. body is a hazy light amber, closer to a golden straw sort of color.

smell: very resiny. note of dank nugs, pineapple, and grapefruit.

taste: resin on the forefront, sort of like a pine sap-type flavor. as it sits and warms the tropical fruitiness comes out, backed by a

feel: moderate body. easily drinkable but there's a lot going on flavor-wise so it helps to slow down. somewhat oily and very astringent.

overall: a very solid example of the american IPA. to me it has the vibe of a double IPA (very hoppy, resiny, and oily), but the alcohol content isn't quite high enough. it drinks well and kicks enough that you don't need many. i quite like it, although i usually prefer NEIPAs on the fruitier side rather than the danker side.

Appearance: Pours a rather opaque goldenstraw with a bubble show producing a one-finger head; good retention and a smattering of lace

Smell: Pineapple, blueberry and candied orange peel

Taste: Pineapple and blueberry tones forward with the candied orange peel underpinning; an unusual bitterness pervades from the mid-palate, somewhat reminiscent of blood orange and aspirin, though the candied orange peel lingers

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and slightly creamy with moderate to high carbonation

Overall: A really different take on an all-Mosaic IPA; by and large, I enjoyed it

Thanks, cdubnbird, for the opportunity
