Triple Shakes (2025) from Hitchhiker. 16 fl oz can, purchased 26/02/26 from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. $4.50 (Including tax)/$ 0.282/fl oz. In reefer at store, stored at 40 degrees F at home. Reviewed 05/03/26, review 3698. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Stamped on bottom of label “1/7/2026.” Served at 48.3 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 56.8 degrees F.
Appearance – 3. Basically, looks like every other porter/stout with a small head.
First pour – Deep Amber (SRM 15), clear.
Body – Brown (SRM 30), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lit, same, with little light penetration at the bottom edge (amber).
Head – Average (Maximum 1.2 cm, aggressive center pour). Biscuit, high density, short duration, rapidly becoming medium density as the head drops to an irregular 0.05 - 0.2 cm crown fed by spotty carbonation, and a thin, partial cap.
Lacing – Poor. Just a few very tiny islands (Most 0.15 cm in diameter) remain hanging on the glass as the head/level recedes…
Aroma – 3.5 – Coffee, no malt, no hops. No alcohol.
Flavor – 3.5 – Slightly bitter coffee, no malt, no hops, no alcohol (9.5 % according to the label). No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Barely noticeable gastric warming eventually occurs.
Palate – 3 – Medium: Approaching creamy: Soft carbonation.
Style: Sort of follows the BA style description.
Final impression and summation: 3.25 Uncredited label art. Basically coffee with a little ethanol reinforcement.

The pint can was shaken a bit to get all of the liquid out and into a clear Imperial pint mug. It's dark brown with a modest, yet enduring tan head. The aroma is of roasted malt and freshly brewed coffee. That's exactly how it tastes, delivered by a rich and smooth body. This runs a little sweeter than some Imperial Stouts with coffee added. Sometimes the roasted malt, black coffee and alcohol blend into a bitter finish. Not at all the case here. It seems that even the alcohol, with a high ABV percent, works to sweeten the affair. That high percentage is only pleasantly discerned. The glass lacing is nice, too. Those that prefer their Imperial Coffee Stouts a little sweeter will want some and some more of this.

Pours a dark burgundy-brown that looks black when not held against the light. Aroma is coffee beans, which comes off with a bold, mildly acidic, roasty quality - thinking cold steep brewing technique. Malts are toasty, nutty, lightly roasty and earthy, adding a little substance to the coffee. It legitimately smells like a cup of cold brew, evoking memories of iced cold brew on the screened-in porch. Flavor profile follows much the same, bringing up memories of cold brew coffee. Coffee mingles with toasty, nutty, earthy, caramely, bready and lightly roasty malts. It's slightly bitter, earthy coffee. Alcohol is molded in well. Mouth feel is still with a medium thickness. Very mild texture. Overall, roasty coffee in each sip, this is one coffee beer that really hits the coffee side hard, placing it in the focus of each whiff and sip.

Ended up finishing my four pack tonight pours a very deep dark black with a nice quarter inch froth of deep mocha foam. Smells of straight up coffee ripe espresso beans and a good dose of chocolate to balance. taste is very on par good roast coffee smooth malt backbone bitter but not overwhelming nice sweet chocolate for balance. Body on the other hand is kind of light almost watery giving you the impression that you can chug it but it definitely has a heavy feel if you try. Slow sipper for sure.
Overall I was impressed by this beer and that just four bucks a pounder it doesn't really hurt the wallet. Pretty cool cover art as well.

Appearance: Arrives espresso colored with a thin cap; spots of lace hang around
Smell: Rich espresso aromatics, with roast and chocolate supporting
Taste: Chocolate forward with the roast and coffee tones building; quite bitter, through the middle and into the finish, with dark fruit lingering in the aftertaste
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation
Overall: A coffee beer for coffee lovers, it has a bit more bitterness than I would like but is still quite good

I'm trying this at the brewery. If you like coffee.....this is your heaven sent beer. It's big and robust......Juan Valdez is jelly on this one. It poured an opaque dark with very thin head that is not leaving any lace. The scent and taste were espresso dujour. The mouthfeel was fuller in body with good carbonation. Overall its a solid beer.

Look- pours dark brown, almost black, with a rocky tan head and rings of lacing
Aroma- coffee, dark chocolate, toast-like malt and slight char
Taste- follows the nose pretty closely with smooth coffee, slightly sweet fudgy chocolate and a little roasty bitterness
Feel- thick bodied and very creamy feel, fairly low carb
Overall- really nice imperial coffee porter that’s very coffee-forward and it tastes like quality coffee was used. Good dessert beer, with just a touch sweetness.
